A poster I created to place in ad spots in Subway stations in Toronto, Ontario By: Lindsey Hodgson

I designed this poster based on the first one, but it is in landscape mode in order to be placed on Subway walls in Subway stations across the city. By: Lindsey Hodgson

30TH STREET MURAL
Storytelling through Art
Overview: In this project, I worked alongside my teammate, Leah Gordon to create a digital design of storytelling of the animals that Nick Sweetman and Philip Cote have painted in their mural on 30th Street in Toronto, Ontario. Nick has been doing some walking tours with local schools to talk about the animals and concepts he has come up with, and they have also planned on writing a plaque to go with the mural. They have painted 25-30 animals in this mural. Nick has emphasized his need to display the significance of the animals who are native to the area, and have been removed. He has included four sacred plants; sage, tobacco, sweet grass, and cedar. The smoke that comes from these plants resonates with our energy. The colourful smoke in the background of the mural represents the idea that we are all connected, we are all a part of one whole, and we are not above the soil, plants, water, or animals.
Purpose: Design a way for people of all ages throughout the city of Toronto to know and understand Nick's story of the First Nations animals that inhabited this area, without them having to physically be there.

Ideation: Mind Mapping

Ideation: Starburst

Hi-Fidelity Mockup: This is the Music/Meditation screen. I designed this to give the user the ability to participate in meditations and listen to music in the comfort of their home, or wherever they are. This will help them to have a peaceful, calm, and positive mind throughout the day, which has been shown to increase mental well-being. This would include a database of a variety of meditations/music, and the user is able to "heart" the ones they like, so they can return to them later.

Mobile App for Senior Citizens
Overview: Many senior citizens are struggling with their mental and physical health as they get older. Dementia has become so prominent among the older population. There are ways to prevent this terrible disease, and I designed a mobile application that can help with this prevention.
Purpose: Create an app that middle ages and senior citizens can use in order to take control of their mental and physical well-being. Through UX Research, I discovered that keeping the mind and body active throughout our lives can have a huge impact on developing untreatable brain diseases, such as dementia and Alzheimer's. Taking care of our health before it's too late is the key.

"H" FOR HEART
Overview: I love motion design and motion graphics. I feel like the possibilities are endless as to what can be created using graphics, animation, and your imagination.
Purpose: I was asked to choose a letter of the alphabet and have it morph or transform into something that begins with that letter. I chose the letter "h" to represent a heart.
Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects
Design Skills: Motion, animation, graphic design

My goal was to design a poster that embodies the life of this typeface - Pangram Sans

This is my first design I completed to have a good idea of what the typeface represents, the different weights of the font, and outline what colours I will be using for my final design

PANGRAM SANS
Typography
Overview: This typeface is one of my favourites. Typography is one of the most important aspects to designing graphics for every single part of designing. This includes advertising, marketing, entertainment, education, health, and so much more. Every typeface evokes a mood and personality of its very own.
Purpose: Creatively demonstrate information and different elements of a typeface in a graphic design poster.
Software: Adobe Illustrator
Design Skills: Graphic design, typography, creativity, layers, colour theory

ABOUT
I am currently studying Multimedia Design & Development. I am a very optimistic, enthusiastic, and creative designer. I use design as a way to solve problems in everyday life. I feel the most alive when I am being challenged on a daily basis.
When I'm not designing, I am a makeup artist, and love dancing and singing. I see design as a form of art, and another way I have found helps me to express myself.
I don’t believe that any problem is ever impossible to solve. If a design isn't effective the first time, we must find a new way of looking at it. Design is never stagnant, it is always changing, and I love every minute of it.
